PERFORMANCE LEAGUE

The 2027 season will mark the sixth season District 8 will offer the Performance League program for teenage players league age 13 to 16 that reside or go to school within the boundaries of our four member leagues: Calgary West, Rocky Mountain, Fish Creek and Calgary South.  The performance teams will play in the Western Frontier Baseball league, organized by Little League Alberta.

The Performance League is a high-performance program that runs September through July each year with a short fall season followed by indoor fall/winter training and a spring season April to June.  Games are mostly weekends (2-4 games) and practices are weekdays. Travel is necessary to play teams in North Calgary, Lethbridge, Edmonton, Medicine Hat and possibly Saskatchewan.

In 2026 we fielded an Intermediate, Junior, Senior and Senior AA team who played other Little League, Baseball Alberta, American Legion and Independent teams from all over the province. 

The goal of the program is to provide a competitive outlet for players who want to experience more than community house league play, while also striving to keep the cost low to participate, and continue to play and practice on local fields.  Our program is coordinated and coached by mostly volunteers, further reducing the cost to athletes.

The spring season leads to Little League Tournament Play in the month of July where teams will be formed and contend for a Western Divisional Championship with the winners advancing to a Canadian Championship and even a World Series.

Intermediate AAA Team:  2026 WFBL Junior Prep Champions.  2026 Intermediate Western Divisional Semi-Finalists.
Junior AAA Team:  2026 WFBL Junior Finalists.  2026 Junior Western Divisional Champions and Canadian Regional Finalists.
Senior AAA Team:  2026 WFBL Senior Finalists.  2026 Senior Western  Divisional Champions and Canadian Regional Finalists. 
Senior AA Team:  2026 Little League Alberta Senior AA Provincial Champions. 

Continuing to build off this success, we will select teams for the 2027 season that will train together through the fall and winter indoors and develop their skills, while also having a flexible and lower commitment schedule that will allow them to participate in other sports through the off-season. 

Intake for our program starts in August each year, leading up to team selection in September.
